Tools

In addition to sound engineering methods, several computer-based tool systems allow for complex design and advanced problem solutions. Design by Analysis Technical Consulting offers the following tools to help solve your problems:

Onshape

Onshape

The first modern database driven CAD software, Onshape is a full product development platform combining CAD, data management and collaboration tools. As a database system, it leaves behind the limitations of file-based CAD software and allows full design freedom across all teams in product development. Onshape has been used by DbATC for product development and a front end geometry creation tool since 2016 for clients. For clients using Onshape, the collaboration and integration is seamless across the DbATC and client company projects.

Thermal Measurements

Thermal Measurements

DbATC offers thermal measurements of systems for model verification and product baseline understanding. A FLIR thermal imaging camera is available for surface measurements of objects. Thermocouple readers and data loggers allow for single point measurements of selected items. A hot wire anemometer system provides for air temperature and velocity measurements when air flow parameters need to be measured. These capabilities allow a current product to be measured for performance and can be used for simulation model verification after prototypes are built. Correlating simulations to test measurements is a key service offered by DbATC and is a key component to the Understand phase of product improvement or innovation.

SolidWorks

SolidWorks

SOLIDWORKS® software delivers powerful design functionality with the intuitive SOLIDWORKS user interface to speed your design process and make you instantly productive.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation intuitive CFD (computational fluid dynamics) tool enables you to simulate liquid and gas flow in real world conditions, run “what if” scenarios, and efficiently analyze the effects of fluid flow, heat transfer, and related forces on immersed or surrounding components.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

DbATC utilizes both ANSYS and SolidWorks Simulation for FEA solutions, depending upon client needs. From simple analyses of products or parts to high end nonlinear thermal stress/strain and warpage analysis of semiconductor packages, difficult problems are analyzed for product requirements and improvements.

Solaria

Solaria

Solaria is a finite difference thermal solver and effectively works as a midlevel solver for thermal problems between full simulations in FEA/CFD and the simpler equation solutions of Swift Calcs. This tool is especially well suited for what-if studies and rapid turnaround solutions, allowing final detailed solutions to be solved in the more complicated FEA/CFD models.

Swift Calcs

Swift Calcs

Swift Calcs is a web-based equation modeling and solution software allows automation of standard classical analyses and solutions for faster results or a greater variation of “what if” analysis trials. This is an extremely efficient and valuable method for up-front engineering evaluations of concepts and designs.
